The High Artistry A Tribute to Craftsmanship Limited Edition 1994 Coffret pays tribute to a rich and highly esteemed cultural heritage, honoring its beauty, harmony, artistry, and enduring traditions through meaningful symbols. The vibrant vermilion precious resin of the cap and barrel echoes a striking shade of red, symbolizing significance and protection. Traditionally derived from cinnabar ore and believed to ward off evil spirits, this symbolic color creates an elegant contrast with the black precious resin of the cone and forepart ring. The Montblanc emblem in white precious resin provides a striking accent to the edition. This vibrant vermilion red is also available as an ink in a 30 ml bottle. A central motif—the crane, a symbol revered in many cultures—represents happiness, peace, loyalty, and longevity. Its majestic presence, often associated with the wish for a long and fulfilled life, is impressively captured on the writing instrument's cap. An engraving inlaid with black lacquer depicts the crane’s striking mating dance—wings spread wide, leaping high, and circling its chosen partner—a testament to nature's grace and enduring love. This intricate depiction also adorns the matching stationery notebook. The handcrafted solid 750 gold nib serves as a delicate homage to the fleeting beauty of the *sakura*, or cherry blossom. Furthering the edition's tribute to Japanese art, gold-coated fittings lend a refined finish to the design. The coffret is limited to just 1,994 pieces worldwide—a number commemorating 1994, the year a series of significant historic sites in Kyoto were collectively inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
